Being a punjabi dish , paneer butter masala or paneer makhani is served in almost all the indian restaurants .
To my Knowledge, there is no standard recipe for this dish till now. However the three main ingredients used are tomato puree, freshcream & cashew paste.
And here is my version of the recipe,

Ingredients:

300 grams paneer, cubed
1 can tomato puree ( or you can blanch them make into a puree )
1/4 cup green peas
1 cup chopped onions
2 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 bayleaf
2 cardamom pods
2 cloves
1 tsp tomato paste
2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp corinader powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garammasala
1 tsp kasurimethi
2 tbs cahewpaste
4 tbs heavycream
4 tbs butter
1 tbs vegetable oil
salt to taste

Method:

Heat half of the butter in a pan and fry the paneer cubes till they turn golden brown.
Heat the remaining ghee and oil in a pan, add cardamom, cloves & bayleaf.Add the onions and saute them till they turn translucent.
Add ginger garlic paste and saute them for a while. Then add cashew paste and cook the mixture for few seconds.
Add the tomato puree and tomato paste along with salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder & garam masala mix throughly and let it simmer for 4-5 minutes on a low flame.
Now add the kasurimethi , paneer cubes & peas ,stir and let it sit for another 3 minutes.
Add cream and garnish with coriander leaves.

  3. This looks nice. I love paneer in any form, but these days use tofu as a healthier substitute. I bet the gravy will work for both.
